Andrew Doyle was elected to the 30th Dail in May 2007

Andrew runs the family farm which has been in the family for 6 generations. He joined Fine Gael when he was 23, working at local branch level and then also on a constituency basis With a good track record of involvement at local branch level, Andrew was elected to Wicklow County Council in 1999 to represent East Wicklow. Re-elected by topping the poll in 2004 Andrew then went on to serve as Chairman of Wicklow County Council 2005-2006.

He was elected to represent Wicklow and East Carlow constituency in the May 2007 General Election, running on a Team Wicklow campaign with Billy Timmins T.D., representing the first time in 25 years that Fine Gael have held 2 seats in this area.

Andrew was appointed Deputy Spokesperson on Agriculture with special responsibility for Food and Horticulture in May 2007 by Enda Kenny T.D.

Since being elected, Andrew has been working for Wicklow /East Carlow people on many issues and on problems that effect people all over Ireland. Some of these are:

  • Commuter transport services for Wicklow –N11, trains and buses
  • Special needs children and their education
  • Community based policing and services especially community care
  • Energy efficiency and microgeneration of electricity
  • Delivery of Best Practice in St.Columcille’s Hospital and a 24 hour A and E service
  • Sheep farming sector development support
  • Development of local food production and processing with traceability for all sectors
  • Campaign for Irish produced food to be labelled clearly
  • Fair trade in grocery retail for the suppliers, buyers and consumers
  • Supports Public Infrastructure Bond for broadband, public infrastructure, education, research and development, public transport
  • New Budgetary procedures for Departments including bidding, and finance following the patient as in new Fair Care Health proposals from Fine Gael

Driven by a genuine interest in meeting and helping people together with a keen involvement in community life, Andrew has always enjoyed his participation in political life. He looks forward to continuing his work on these and many other important issues.Busy Dail office 2009 008 small
